OUR Entrepid Network – Introducing Mary Maranville and Student’s for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SeeAG.org)

Opening Eyes to Agriculture

Mary Maranville founded Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG) in 2008. Even with California’s rich agricultural heritage, children don’t make the connection between the acres of farmland around them to the food on their tables. This education program helps make that connection; providing kids with field trips to local farms brings the message home even further. (source – http://www.seeag.org/about/)

The mission of SEEAG is to increase the understanding of the food journey from field to consumption and to connect school children to farmland and gardens in their own backyard. This program is teaching kids why they need to care about plants, gardens and agriculture and is inspiring the next generation to become future agricultural managers and stewards of the land. SEEAG also leads a STEM Careers in Agriculture program that targets junior high and high school students. Its Ventura County Farm Day is a community event in which over 20 Ventura County farms open their doors to the public.

Volkswagen’s I.D. CROZZ electric concept aims for 2020 production

Electric production vehicles may be relatively rare, but electric concepts abound, and most of them are targeting 2020 for a rough production date, as is the Volkswagen I.D. CROZZ, an all-electric design whose name I hope dies in a horrible fire between now and whenever (if ever) it does end up hitting the street.
The name does do one thing adequately well – it conveys that this is a… Read More

Game over, man! The NES Classic is discontinued planet-wide

Well, it was fun while it lasted. The NES Classic Edition (it went by several names, but you know what I mean) was the must-have item of the holidays and pretty much ever since, owing to short supply of the compact retro gaming console. And Nintendo just confirmed that it was indeed ending production of the device in Europe, the last region they were still officially available. Read More

Accelerating the future of space technology

At this moment there are over 500,000 pieces of space debris hurtling around the Earth. Traveling at speeds of up to 40,000 kilometers per hour, a satellite collision with these fragments is enough to damage and even destroy our communications networks. Accion Systems is building the technology to prevent that. The company, which spun out of MIT in 2014, manufactures ion engines that… Read More
