Building the Healthiest Homes on the Planet

Doug Busch and the Malibu, California based pH Living team are building healthier homes for a healthier planet.

In their own words (www.phliving.us)

pH Living is a full service design/build group specializing in healthy and sustainable architecture, interior design, and construction services. Our team of LEED certified designers and environmental scientists collaborate to bring you custom, renovated, and ground-up construction of healthy homes with contemporary design—scientifically tested and certified to meet the only healthy home standard developed by the International Institute for Building Biology and Ecology, (IBE).

One of the unique aspects of pH Living is that we are architects, designers, contractors and scientists with over 40 years of combined knowledge and expertise—providing a unique perspective from many different fields, in order to offer the best solutions for each project, with a single source of responsibility from project start to completion.

So whether you are looking for a full home makeover, or a new home built from the ground up, our pH Living team offers an array of services and construction methods that provide the healthiest housing solutions—building healthier homes and a healthier planet.

pH Living was founded on the principles of healthy design and sustainable building practices. Founders Doug Busch, Michael Francis, and Larry Gust created pH Living with the goal of providing homes for people who suffer from environmental allergies and chemical sensitivities, a growing health problem that afflicts over 7 million people nationwide.

Through extensive research and scientific testing, we discovered that the technology exists for us to design, build and renovate healthier homes for everyone. We also recognized the rising need for all people to have access to healthy homes produced without harmful toxins, with higher quality construction methods, sustainable building practices, and great design. These discoveries have inspired our pH Living team in our continued mission to be the leading provider of the world’s healthiest housing. We are committed to and driven by the belief that we can help change lives and our planet one square foot at a time.

#OUREntrepidNetwork – Introducing Kenton Lee, Because International and The Shoe that Grows

www.facebook.com/TheShoeThatGrows/
www.facebook.com/TheShoeThatGrows/

“What if there was a shoe that could adjust and expand—so kids always had a pair of shoes that fit?” | Kenton Lee

In their own words (https://www.linkedin.com/company/18239361/)

There are over 300 million children who do not have shoes, and countless more with shoes that do not fit. Learn how The Shoe That Grows is working to change that!

Because International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes that everyone living in desperate poverty, especially a child, deserves opportunities to succeed. Our mission is to use the positive cycle of innovation to fight the negative cycle of poverty.

Our first product – The Shoe That Grows – has been designed specifically for kids living in poverty. With shoes, kids are healthier, attend school more often, and are more confident. The Shoe That Grows has 5x the impact of ordinary shoes because it expands 5 sizes and lasts for years. Over 100,000 pairs have been distributed in over 90 countries, and with production starting in Ethiopia, we’re not only blessing kids with shoes but people with jobs. We’re committed to making things better by making better things and look forward to releasing our next product soon while also coming alongside local entrepreneurs to help them make their own innovative ideas come to life.

Over 1.5 billion people suffer from soil transmitted diseases worldwide

Without shoes, children are especially vulnerable to soil-transmitted diseases and parasites that can cause illness and even death.

Children who get sick miss school, can’t help their families, and suffer needlessly. And since children’s feet grow so quickly, they often outgrow donated shoes within a year, leaving them once again exposed to illness and disease.

The Shoe That Grows can change all that.

#OUREntrepidNetwork – Introducing Kristin Carroll and Rescue | The Behavior Change Agency

Promoting Healthy Behaviors

CEO Kristin Carrol and her San Diego based Rescue team believe that marketing can do more than sell goods, it can create good.

In their own words (www.rescueagency.com)

Rescue provides behavior change marketing services (or “social marketing”) to government, non-profit and corporate organizations. Rescue’s current work focuses on tobacco, obesity, violence and alcohol prevention; the promotion of exercise, fresh foods and after school programs; and other products and services that promote healthy living. Most of Rescue’s behavior change campaigns focus on teens (13 – 17) and young adults (18 – 26), resulting in unrivaled experience in adolescent behavior change campaigns. Rescue is a full-service agency, providing research, strategy, creative, production, web, traditional media, social media, policy change, youth engagement and experiential marketing services to clients in over a dozen states and provinces, as well as to federal government agencies.

Rescue provides comprehensive behavior change marketing programs. We begin with our proprietary formative research process, Peer Science™. Through this process, we segment the audience into “peer crowds,” which are the macro-level connections between peer groups with similar interests, lifestyles, influencers, and habits. Then, we investigate the values, information, habits, and/or structural challenges that drive the unhealthy behavior or prevent people from performing the healthy behavior to determine whether a policy change, knowledge change, or norm change program would be most effective.

#OUREntrepidNetwork – Introducing Boyan Slat and The Ocean Cleanup

www.theoceancleanup.com

The Ocean Cleanup’s mission is to develop advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic.

In their own words (source – https://www.linkedin.com/company/2836723/)

Boyan Slat is a Dutch inventor and entrepreneur creating technologies to solve societal problems. He is the founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, which develops advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Boyan founded this effort when he was just 16 years old.

The main idea behind The Ocean Cleanup is to let the ocean currents do the work. An installation of Ushaped screens channels floating plastic to a central point. The concentrated plastic can then be extracted and shipped to shore for recycling into durable products. Our passive systems will remove half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years.

UNLOCKING VALUE THROUGH FOOD WASTE REDUCTION

In their own words; source – www.refed.com/about.

ReFED is a collaboration of over thirty business, nonprofit, foundation and government leaders committed to reducing United States food waste in the United States. ReFED seeks to unlock new philanthropic and investment capital, along with technology, business and policy innovation, to achieve this goal, which will catalyze tens of thousands of new jobs, recover billions of meals annually for the hungry, and reduce national water use and greenhouse gas emissions. ReFED was formed in early 2015 to create a Roadmap to Reduce U.S. Food Waste, the first ever national economic study and action plan driven by a multi-stakeholder group committed to tackling food waste at scale. Recently, a number of initiatives have raised awareness of the magnitude of the problem. The Roadmap is designed to fill the gap between awareness and action, by creating transparency in the waste flows, costs and opportunities of a more efficient food system achieved by preventing, recovering, and recycling food waste. The Roadmap is the result of a collaborative stakeholder process, including input and support from ReFED members and over 80 additional industry experts.

OUR Entrepid Network – Introducing Scott Fulbright, Steve Albers and Living Ink Technologies

www.livinginktechnologies.com

Introducing the Future of Ink.

In their own words; source – www.livinginktechnologies.com

Scott and Steve met when they were PhD students in the Cell and Molecular Biology Program at Colorado State University. They were both researching algae projects related to biofuels and bioproducts. In late 2013, it was brought to their attention that the majority of printing ink used in the world are produced from toxic petroleum products. This inspired them to use algae as biopigments for the world’s most sustainable ink.

Introducing the future of ink. We have developed two types of algae ink:

1. SAVING THE WORLD ink. Sustainable algae derived ink that is 100% plant-based, renewable and biodegradable. The majority of the ink is algae, grown in our lab, turned into ink, applied to paper. Just like regular petroleum ink, but without the petroleum.

2. FUN SCIENCE ink. The world’s first time-lapse ink that allows you to write, sketch, draw, or paint your story over time. The magic happens when the ink literally grows when exposed to light.
